2 Tawarikh 9:11

9:11 With the timber the king made steps for the Lord’s temple and royal palace as well as stringed instruments for the musicians. No one had seen anything like them in the land of Judah prior to that.)

2 Tawarikh 15:8

15:8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he was encouraged. He removed the detestable idols from the entire land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had seized in the Ephraimite hill country. He repaired the altar of the Lord in front of the porch of the Lord’s temple.

2 Tawarikh 26:10

26:10 He built towers in the desert and dug many cisterns, for he owned many herds in the lowlands and on the plain. He had workers in the fields and vineyards in the hills and in Carmel, for he loved agriculture.

2 Tawarikh 32:5

32:5 Hezekiah energetically rebuilt 10  every broken wall. He erected towers and an outer wall, 11  and fortified the terrace of the City of David. 12  He made many weapons and shields.

2 Tawarikh 35:8

35:8 His officials also willingly contributed to the people, priests, and Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the leaders of God’s temple, supplied 2,600 Passover sacrifices and 300 cattle.

tn Heb “tracks.” The parallel text in 1 Kgs 10:12 has a different term whose meaning is uncertain: “supports,” perhaps “banisters” or “parapets.”

tn Two types of stringed instruments are specifically mentioned in the Hebrew text, the כִּנּוֹר (kinnor, “zither”) and נֶבֶל (nevel, “harp”).

tn Heb “there was not seen like these formerly in the land of Judah.”

tn Heb “strengthened himself.”

tn Heb “the porch of the Lord.”

tn Heb “Shephelah.”

tn Heb “workers and vinedressers in the hills and in Carmel.” The words “he had” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

tn Heb “for a lover of the ground he [was].”

tn Heb “he”; the referent (Hezekiah) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

10 tn Heb “strengthened himself and built.”

11 tn Heb “and outside the wall another one.”

12 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.
